Just two months after facing Floyd Mayweather in one of the most hyped fights ever… and losing, Conor McGregor may be headed back to the boxing ring.

Word is, his opponent may be his ex-sparring partner/former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi, who got into a verbal war of words with McGregor in the weeks leading up to the Mayweather fight.

In an interview with FightHype, Malignaggi claimed that talks about a potential fight have started.

“I know Al Haymon’s talking to Dana White. If they want the fight, they’ll make it happen,” he said. “I don’t need to do all of that because Al Haymon makes anything he wants happen, happen. The only way it doesn’t happen [is] if this guy doesn’t have any balls. This fight will pay him more, this fight will get him more exposure — this fight is bigger than anything else he has. There’s no more Mayweather fight, this is the biggest fight there is.”

So far, there’s been no official word from McGregor or the UFC regarding a potential fight with Malignaggi.

However, betting odds are already being set. Sky Bet has Malignaggi as its favorite, with odds of 8/15, while McGregor is on 6/4 for him to win and, finally, a draw has odds of 33/1.

Despite this news, all signs point to McGregor returning to the UFC, with a fight against interim champion Tony Ferguson recently confirmed by Dana White.
