Its been nearly a year since she lost via submission to Michelle Waterson, but UFC women’s star Paige VanZant was set to return at UFC 2016 earlier this month… until a back injury sidelined her again.

However, the 23-year-old trained hard and went through a severe weight-cutting process to make the strawweight limit of 116 pounds.

This week, VanZant shared a pair of pre-fight photos showcasing her extremely skinny body, one of which is her on the bathroom looking emaciated.

“I don’t think people realize how heavy I walk around at. My last three fights, I’m cutting from 137 to make 115 [pounds], so its a big cut for me,” VanZant revealed during an interview on The MMA Hour.”I’m a lot heavier than people realize. I was honestly killing myself for this sport. My last three fights, I’ve passed out in my bathroom. The last time I passed out, the doctors almost didn’t clear me for the fight.”

She says cut-weight has been so taxing that she’ll no longer compete in the strawweight division moving forward. Instead, she will move up to the flyweight division at 125.

The next highest class is bantamweight at 135 pounds, followed by the recently added featherweight division at 145 pounds.

Its currently unclear when we will see VanZant back in the Octagon.
