Detroit rapper Doughboy Roc was reportedly shot and killed in his hometown of Detroit on Monday (Oct. 9). He was just 29 years old.
According to local CBS affiliate, the rapper (born Rodney Yeargin) was shot multiple times inside his car on Detroit’s west side at around 3:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
So far, police have not named a suspect.
Doughboy Roc rose to fame as a member of Doughboyz Cashout, a group founded in 2006 and eventually signed to Jeezy’s CTE World label in 2013.
Fellow Detroit rapper Big Sean took to Twitter to mourn his loss. “RIP Doughboy Roc. Bless his Soul, his family n Doughboyz Cashout. We gotta do better,” he tweeted.
