Fresh off a tour announcement, Kodak Black has been hit with some more legal trouble.
According to reports, the 20-year-old rapper (born Dieuson Octave) was indicted on first degree sexual assault on Monday (Oct. 9).
The charge stem from an alleged incident involving a teen girl in Florence County, South Carolina last year. It took place at a local Comfort Inn & Suites, while Kodak Black was in town for a concert at the Treasure City nightclub, reports ABC affiliate WPDE.
The teen reportedly told her school nurse about the incident, who notified authorities.
So far, Kodak Black has not commented, but his attorney Gary Kollin said his client was innocent last year. “We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free.”
Atlantic Records responded to the case in a statement, saying: “Atlantic Records is aware of the indictment and it was expected as part of the normal process of the pending case.”
If convicted, Kodak Black could face up to 30 years in prison. No trial date has been set.
