Popular sneaker marketplace GOAT is slated to pay tribute to the Los Angeles sneaker game via an upcoming pop-up gallery.
GOAT, also known as The Greatest, will launch its inaugural exhibition on October 7, titled “The Greatest: Los Angeles”.
The gallery will spotlight 25 specific pairs of sneakers specific to Los Angeles that have contributed to the rich history of sneaker culture. Some of the iconic sneakers include: the Nike Air Jordan IV “Undefeated,” Air Force 1 “Mr. Cartoon,” Air Max 97 360 x Union, Yeezy PowerPhase “Calabasas,” and Dunk Low Pro SB “Diamond”, among others.
Additionally, the gallery will feature workshops and open sessions influential sneaker figures like Jeff Staple, The Shoe Surgeon, Jason Markk, Theo Martins, Sophia Chang, Andrea Lieberman, and many others.
“I think people are a product of the environment in which they were raised. LA is not only a melting pot of various ethnicities, but LA is also an intersection of diverse subcultures such as skate, surf and gangs,” said Markk, who also founded the event. “This is evident in the way we live, carry ourselves, and also what’s on our feet.”
“We’ve wanted to create a physical space like this for a long time, to inspire and bring people from different backgrounds together through their love of sneakers,” adds Daishin Sugano, co-founder and CPO of GOAT. “We’re excited for the opportunity to share some of LA’s contributions to the sneaker community since 2000, and explore where the industry is headed to next.”
