Ronda Rousey will likely never return to the Octagon, but her coach Edmond Tarverdyan wants her to return for one last fight… and that’s against Cris Cyborg.
Her longtime rival and current UFC featherweight champion took to her website on Tuesday (Sept. 19) to respond, revealing that she wouldn’t even wanna fight her in the UFC anymore. Instead, she suggests they fight in the WWE.
“If Ronda is wanting to make the fight for the fans, I would still be willing to give them it,” Cyborg said. “But I think it would be better to take place inside the WWE ring. For her it gets her one step closer to Hollywood and for me it would be another exciting challenge and a chance to test my athletic ability.”
Cyborg goes on to say that if Rousey wants to fight in the UFC one more time, it shouldn’t be against her.
“If Ronda is going to return for only 1 more fight I think it should be against Miesha Tate,” she writes. “When I wanted to fight her it was because she was at the top of her game and she had all of the confidence in the world. She had not been KO’d twice in a row and some people were actually saying she could beat Floyd Mayweather in a fight.”
“I wanted the challenge so bad I almost killed myself trying to make the lowest weight possible just to give this fight to the fans, and she made every excuse for it not to happen,” Cyborg added.
With Rousey gone, Cyborg (18-1) has become the champ of the new women’s featherweight division and is being hailed as the sport’s most feared female fighter.
Cyborg is coming off a TKO win against Tonya Evinger at UFC 214, while Rousey has been knocked out her last two fights… and shows no signs of returning.
