With Conor McGregor’s fight with Floyd Mayweather in the history books, talk of Nate Diaz trilogy fight is beginning.
Diaz, himself, hasn’t fought in the UFC since McGregor defeated him via majority decision in their 2016 rematch. But, he’s helping sell that third fight already, taking to social media with some trash talk about his rival’s performance against Mayweather.
He reposted an image to Instagram Tuesday (Sept. 5), originally shared by the UFC. It features an image of McGregor, along with the quote, “I never lose. Either I win or I learn.”
Diaz didn’t agree, adding this caption: “He punched himself out the same way he lost in the Ufc [sic] there was no learning goin on.. #overpromotion. Bullsh*t get off the nuts this is the sh*t I’m talking about. Bruce Lee would’ve never lost like that.”
Interestingly, ahead of the Mayweather-McGregor fight, Diaz publicly talked up Conor’s chances in defeating Floyd. But, after Mayweather won, photos surfaced of him posing with Mayweather in the boxer’s locker room backstage.
McGregor did admit, after the Mayweather fight, that he needs to improve his overall cardio… which essentially proves Diaz’s point.
It’s unclear when McGregor-Diaz 3 will take place, but McGregor is expected to return to the Octagon in either December or early 2018.
