Woah! Neymar has just become the highest paid soccer player in the world, after signing massive deal with Paris Saint-Germain, worth a reported $265 million.
According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the deal on Thursday (Aug. 3) after activating the Brazil soccer star’s buyout clause.
To buy out his contract with FC Barcelona, PSG has to buyout the deal for record $263 milion. Apparently, there was a bit of a bump first, because Barcelona refused to accept the payment to trigger the clause. So, Neymar’s legal team traveled to Barcelona to make the payment directly.
The previous record was help by Manchester United, which paid a $117 million transfer fee for Pogba from Juventus.
In total, PSG is forking over around $528 million to get Neymar.
As noted by TMZ, the 25-year-old soccer star will get pair around $657,000 per week over the course of his five year deal. WHOA!!
Neymar’s star has risen in recent years. He’s the only soccer athlete signed to Michael Jordan’s Jordan Brand… and he even has his own Jordan sneaker.
