President Donald Trump stirred things up on Wednesday (July 26), when he declared that transgenders are banned from the U.S. Military.

As always, he made his announcement… on Twitter.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military,” President Trump tweeted.

From there, he explained that transgender individuals are more of a financial burden than others. “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

It’s not the first time Trump has gone after the transgender community. Back in February, his administration withdrew federal protection for transgender students.
