Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones recently lost a $150,000 diamond earring… and hired divers to recover it.
According to reports, he was jetskiing in Georgia’s Lake Lanier, when he fell off and into the water. When he resurfaced, he noticed one of his earrings were missing.
According to WXIA-TV in Atlanta, Jones hired a full team of divers in an attempt to recover the pricey piece of jewelry, diving as far as 65 feet. In the end, they came up empty-handed.
One diver told WXIA that it was “absolutely impossible” to find.
Fortunately, Jones can take the hit. In fall 2015, he signed a $71 million contract extension with the Falcons. It’s safe to say he’ll be fine.
“As long as I’m good, it’s materialistic stuff,” he told WXIA. “You can always get that kind of stuff back.”
