At least 90 concertgoers were hospitalized for “severe intoxication” on Friday (July 21) during a Chance The Rapper concert at Connecticut’s Xfinity Theatre.
According to local authorities, many of those 90 were underage. They were charged with underage drinking and given a summons to appear in court, said reports.
The concert was the annual “Hot Jam” show, organized by local radio station Hot 93.7.
Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley told The Hartford Courant that teens were tailgating at the concert, which also featured KYLE and PnB Rock.
He also shared videos from the scene on Twitter. “Did you drop your teen off at the concert tonight? This is what it looks like. & HPD is enforcing underage drinking in the lots. HPD has made a high number of Underage Drinking Referrals. I’m told there was an extraordinary number of EMS transports of severe ETOH. Additional steps will have to be taken to address these issues at these concerts,” he wrote.
