Pau Gasol has agreed on a three-year deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs, reports ESPN.
The center declined a $16.2 million option to become a free agent in June. In doing so, he gave the Spurs salary cap space to sign Rudy Gay, Brandon Paul and Joffrey Lauvergne. Also, the team is finalizing a deal to re-sign Manu Ginobili for his 16th season with San Antonio.
The deal includes a partial guarantee in the third year of the contract, said the report. He previously signed a two-year deal with the Spurs.
The 37-year-old Gasol will be going into his 17th NBA season, after averaging 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds a game last season with the Spurs.
Last season, he lost his starting job to Dewayne Dedmon, but embraced his role off the bench.
