Whether or not the Mayweather-McGregor ends up being a big disappointment, it will likely be the most hyped fight ever. The circus of a press tour this month added to the hype… and people are putting down boatloads of money in Las Vegas, potentially making it the biggest of the year.

Usually, the Super Bowl is the biggest betting event in sports each year, but insiders believe the upcoming Mayweather-McGregor fight will easily be the draw of 2017.

Kevin Bradley, manager of online sportsbook Bovada, told Yahoo Sports that he’s “almost certain” about this. “We knew this fight would be big, potentially even bigger than the Super Bowl, but now we are almost certain it will be,” he said. “The recent trash talking and promotional tour is only encouraging bets and at this rate we cannot even imagine how much we will take on it.”

It would take a lot of money to take the betting crown though. There was an estimated $4.7 billion laid down on Super Bowl LI this February, around a half billion dollars more than the estimated value of the Dallas Cowboys (to put that in perspective).

In addition to traditional betting on the winner or loser, there’s people placing bets on whether or not Conor McGregor will revert to old habits, being that he’s jumping into boxing from the MMA world. Yahoo Sports says there are prop bets at +1100 odds, where you’d win if McGregor attempts a kick during the fight at some point.

Bradley says if McGregor ends up pulling off an upset victory, sportsbooks everywhere will hemorrhage cash. “A McGregor early round KO as he promised would be a potential disaster, and is partly a reason we are giving a great price on Mayweather at the moment,” he said.

With that said, are you betting on the fight? And, who are you betting on?
