After a huge rookie campaign, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has garnered some unwanted attention over a bar fight over the weekend.
Police were called to Clutch Bar in Dallas on Sunday night (July 16), after a local DJ named Nkemakola Ibeneme was assaulted by an unnamed man. While its unclear if Elliott was behind the assault, his name is reportedly a part of an ongoing investigation.
Teammate Dez Bryant tweeted that Elliott “could have been defending himself”.
TMZ has published video footage of the aftermath, where the victim is seen on the ground in a pool of his own blood. As others try to help him up, he’s unable to on his own.
A witness tells TMZ they saw the NFL star arguing with the man and then saw him punch him in the nose.
Police have not named any suspects; and Elliott’s rep say he was not arrested or charged with a crime.
Still, this is just the latest in a long list of off-field incidents for the 21-year-old. Back in March, he came under fire when he pulled down a woman’s top at the St. Patrick’s Day block party in Dallas, which was caught on video. He also seen visiting a marijuana dispensary in Seattle, before a preseason game there. He was also at a bar in Columbus, Ohio, in February, when one of his closest friends was arrested for trying to bring a firearm into the establishment.
Apparently, the NFL has been conducting a year-long investigation into Elliott’s behavior.
