The woman at the center of the R. Kelly “cult” scandal has come forward, claiming that she’s perfectly fine… and doesn’t understand what her parents are talking about.

If you’re not following, Buzzfeed published a story Monday (July 17), with allegations that the singer is holding six females against their will at his properties in Chicago and Georgia and controlling every aspect of their lives. There is also claims of sexual abuse.

The main accusers are an unnamed girl’s parents, who claim to have lost contact with their daughter… and Kelly has brainwashed her.

In an interview with TMZ, the 21-year-old girl, who has been identified as Joycelyn Savage, claims she’s fine and “in a happy place”.

“I am in a happy place in my life. I am not being brainwashed or anything like that. It just came to a point where it definitely got outta hand,” the woman claims. “I just want everybody to know — my parents and everybody in the world — that I am totally fine. I am happy where I’m at and everything is okay with me. ”

Savage goes on to say she’s never felt as though she’s being held captive, as the report and her parents claim. “I’ve never felt hostage or anything like that,” she said. “I’m heartbroken with this situation. I haven’t spoken to them about 5-6 months… because of what they’re doing.”

Joycelyn’s father tells TMZ that his daughter may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. So, it’s unlikely he’ll believe her statement.

Through a rep, R. Kelly has denied the claims. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name,” a statement said.
