After a four-year hiatus, the Paid Dues Festival is back.

Murs announced what will be the ninth annual festival this week, set to take place at Pershing Square in Los Angeles on Sept. 16 and 17.

Billed as “The Los Angels Hip Hop Festival”, Lil Wayne and TDE’s Ab-Soul will be headlining the line-up, which boasts a number of indie rap favorites. Other acts include Raekwon & Ghostface, Freddie Gibbs, PRhyme (DJ Premier and Royce 5’9), Nipsey Hussle, Rapsody, and The Grouch & Eligh, among others.

Murs and Guerilla Union launched the Paid Dues Festival back in 2006. Despite its success, its start came with problems. “I almost lost my ass on the first Paid Dues,” Murs told back in 2007.

Permits and weather almost derailed the first event at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, but kids came out. The following year sold out and continued with a total of eight events before cancelling Paid Dues 2014 and going on a hiatus… indefinitely.

Pre-sale for Paid Dues 2017 starts Friday (July 14).
