Ice formed 2 Live Crew in 1984 with DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazing Vee. Uncle Luke later joined the group, when they signed to his record label, and he became their manager and lead vocalist.
2 Live Crew made national headlines in 1989, when their third album, As Nasty As They Wanna Be, was banned in certain stores after a judge ruled that it was obscene, due to its sexually explicit content. Despite the ban, it went on to reach double platinum success.
The following year, 2 Live Crew’s fourth album, Banned in the U.S.A., became the very first album to bear the RIAA-standard Parental Advisory warning sticker.
Fresh Kid Ice eventually released a solo album in 1992, titled The Chinaman.
