Wiz Khalifa has made Youtube history, with his smash hit “See You Again” becoming its most-watched video ever.
On Tuesday (July 11), Wiz’s video dethroned PSY’s “Gangnam Style”, which has held the title for five years.
This week, “See You Again” surpassed “Gangnam Style”, garnering more than 2.9 billion views. As of press time, Wiz’s video had over 2.904 billion views, while PSY’s video had 2.89 billion.
“Thank you guys for making ‘See you again’ the #1 most viewed video in YouTube history. Your love and support is very much appreciated,” Wiz wrote on Instagram.
“See You Again”, which features Charlie Puth, was released in 2015 on the soundtrack for Furious 7. It also served as a tribute to the late Paul Walker.
The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and earned three Grammy nominations, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
For the record, I joined @YouTube in 2007 hoping to make a video that would reach 10,000 views. Just heard about See You Again…wow.
