Tupac Biopic “All Eyez On Me” Surpasses Expectations at Box Office

Despite negative reviews, the long awaited Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me surpassed expectations at the weekend box office.

The film was expected to pull in around $17-$20 million, but instead, earned over $26.4 million during its opening weekend to debut at No. 3 at the weekend box office. Variety says All Eyez was projected to do more than $30 million on Saturday.

In all, the Tupac biopic was shot with a $45 million budget, so it’s off to a solid start.

Critics bashed All Eyez on Me though. Its aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes stands at only 24%. It was also blasted by actress Jada Pinkett Smith, who called it an inaccurate depiction of her relationship with Tupac..

Cars 3 beat out Pac for the top slot at the weekend box office, earning over $53.6 million.
