Actor/filmmaker Stephen Furst, best known for the role of Flounder in the 1970s comedy Animal House, died this week, due to complications from diabetes.
He was just 63 years old.
According to TMZ, Furst’s son said his father died at his home in Ventura County, CA early Friday morning (June 16), while surrounded by close friends and family.
“He was a beloved husband, father and kind friend whose memory will always be a blessing,” the family said in a statement.
Furst battled diabetes for years, and later became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.
In addition to Animal House, Furst played roles on Babylon 5 (and directed a few episode) and St. Elsewhere.
RIP!! And condolences to the family.
