Warriors Beat Cavs in 5 Games: Become 2017 NBA Champs

By Staff  |  06/12/2017

The Golden State Warriors fell short of perfection, losing Game 4 of the NBA Finals and missing their shot at a 16-0 record in the playoffs. But, they got their redemption...

Following disappointment during the Finals last season, the Warriors became the 2017 NBA Champions, after defeating the defending champion Cavaliers during Game 5 on Monday night (June 12), with a 129-120 victory.

If you recall, Golden State capped off a historic season last year by going up 3-1 in their series against the Cavs... only to come up short. But they regrouped, signed Kevin Durant in the offseason and went on to earn the best record in the league, before nearly sweeping the entire playoffs and becoming champs for the second time in three years.

KD led the way throughout the Finals, especially in Game 5, where he scored 39 points, with 11 coming in the fourth quarter. He was also named the 2017 NBA Finals MVP.
