A 74-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly getting several members of his local church high on marijuana cookies.
According to the Indy Star, a man named Brian Jones was recently arrested in connection with an investigation that dates back to May 2016, after members of his church in Bloomington, Ind. were hospitalized for “adverse effects” from cookies he gave to them.
At least six congregation members, aged 12 to 70, ate one of the cookies, telling police that they tasted “unusually salty”. Shortly after, they suffered symptoms such as nausea, sluggishness and lethargy and were hospitalized.
Jones told police that he made the cookies on a Saturday night and took them to church the following morning, but claimed he didn’t know anything about an illegal substance being added to them.
Following a search of his Bloomington residence, officers found an orange pill bottle containing capsules of an oily substance, which later tested positive for marijuana.
All six people also tested positive for cannabinoids.
Jones eventually turned himself on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and possession of hash oil.
