A man in Santa Clarita, Calif. was recently ticketed for speeding in his DeLorean.
Ironically, he was clocked after hitting 88 mph on Highway 14 by the California Highway Patrol, reports The Signal.
If you recall, in the iconic 1985 sci-fi Back to the Future, Dr. Emmett Brown’s DeLorean time machine needs to hit 88 mph before the flux capacitor is activated and he’s able to travel through time.
Well, Spencer White was driving his DeLorean on the highway, and once he passed 80 mph, he figured he’d go for it.
“I thought, let’s take it up to 88 mph,” he tells The Signal
As he reached the mark, White saw a California Highway Patrol officer flashing his lights behind him to pull him over. “He asked me how fast I thought I was going,” White said.
While smiling, the officer told him he was going exactly 88 mph. “All of us started busting up laughing,” White said.
Despite the laugh, he was written up for speeding… but apparently, it didn’t bother him much.
If you were the cop, would you have given him a ticket, or let him off with a warning?
