Odell Beckham Jr. has signed the biggest shoe deal in NFL history, meaning the flamboyant New York Giant will be paid 3x more to wear shoes than play football.
The five-year, $29 million contract with Nike is worth more than twice as much as any deal the company has ever offered a football player.
Incentives in the deal mean it could end up being worth as much as $48 million over eight years, which makes your head spin considering his current NFL contract is a paltry $10.4 million over 4 years -- though the Giants did announce last month they would pick up OBJ's fifth-year option in 2018 for $8 million.
How can Nike justify such a deal?
-
- It's 2017 and facts don't matter
- Nike's playing with Monopoly money
- Odell Beckham Jr. is everywhere
