With his NBA dreams only a month away, Lonzo Ball and his father LaVar continue to make headlines.
Following the NBA Lottery on Tuesday (May 16), LaVar has sort-of declared his son a Los Angeles Laker prematurely.
LaVar told Lakers Nation this week that Lonzo will only participate in a predraft workout with the Lakers… in hopes his performance will convince the team to draft him with the No. 2 overall pick.
“That’s all we working out for is the Lakers,” he. “Just the Lakers. There’s nobody else that we need to work out for.”
LaVar is saying Lonzo belongs in L.A. — he played one season for UCLA and high school ball at Chino Hills. And, he believes Lonzo can take the Lakers back to the postseason immediately — the haven’t made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season.
“The Lakers make the playoffs as soon as my boy gets there,” Ball told Lakers Nation.
According to ESPN, the Lakers plan to evaluate several players for the second and 28th picks. Currently, players under the strongest consideration at No. 2 include Ball, Markelle Fultz, De’Aaron Fox, Josh Jackson and Jayson Tatum.
Where do you think Lonzo Ball will go in this year’s draft?
