Just three months after winning his fifth Super Bowl ring, Tom Brady has landed the coveted cover of Madden NFL 18… which has been labeled “G.O.A.T. Edition”.
Interestingly, Brady grew up a few miles away from where Electronic Arts (EA) opened in his hometown of San Mateo, Calif. And as a kid, he would work out in the EA gym, thanks to a family friend who worked there and lived across the street from him, according to ESPN.
“When this all came about, I thought, ‘How cool is that to do this, knowing when I was a kid in high school I was tagging along down there, working out where it all started?’ It’s been such a great game over a long period of time. I played it so much when I was younger, a little less now. … My son Jack loves beating up on me,” Brady told ESPN this week.
EA also dropped a brief teaser trailer, which doesn’t offer much of a reveal, but teases what appears to be a “Story Mode”, a first in the franchise.
According to EA, Madden NFL 18 takes “a significant visual leap with the power of the Frostbite engine.” It will also feature three new Play Styles, as well as beloved fan favorite modes like “Madden Ultimate Team” and “Franchise”.
Madden 18 is slated to drop Aug. 25.
