Georges St-Pierre comeback fight against middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been called off.

UFC president Dana White revealed the news to Fox News Australia this week, while adding that Bisping will now fight No.1 contender Yoel Romero instead.

“I made this GSP fight, we did a press conference. The thing was supposed to happen in July. Michael Bisping is going to have to defend his title now. We’re not waiting for GSP,” White said.

News of GSP’s comeback came in February, after a nearly four year absence — he last fought in late 2013 and vacated the UFC welterweight title.

The UFC legend called out Bisping last week on social media, demanding that he choose a date any time after October. However, he may have spoken too soon.

“Georges St-Pierre is saying he will not be ready to compete now until November. Who knows if that’s even the case. It could be next year,” White said of GSP’s anticipated return.

Back in 2013, before he walked away from the sport, GSP (25-2) was considered one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
