Although UFC president Dana White said a deal is nowhere close to being made, Las Vegas is already taking big bets on the potential megafight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
According to ESPN, fans have already placed thousands in bets at Las Vegas sportsbooks.
While Mayweather was a giant -2,500 favorite in February, as hype surrounding the fight peaked, odds are a bit different now. Today, Mayweather is now listed at -900, with McGregor +700.
The report says that the SuperBook has taken more than $10,000 on the fight, despite a deal not being confirmed or a date being announced. The bets are legit though, but it must happen by May 13, 2018, or all bets will be refunded.
“Most fights that are not official don’t garner much handle until officially becoming announced,” SuperBook assistant manager Jeff Sherman told ESPN. “I’m not surprised by the McGregor support, just that it has come without an official fight announcement.”
Currently, both sides — the UFC and Mayweather’s camp — haven’t made any indication of a deal being close… but White has confirmed that he’s attempting to make it happen.
