Students at Chicago's Huntley High School got a big surprise over the weekend, when The Chainsmokers crashed their prom with a free show.

While it was a surprise to the kids, the show was planned for weeks in advance.

"About two weeks ago I got this random phone call that I happened to answer, and on the other end this person said, 'This is going to be the strangest call you’ve ever received, but one of your students actually sent an email to the manager of the band'," Huntley Principal Scott Rowe told the Daily Herald.

The Chainsmokers' (comprised of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall) single "Closer" began playing, before they emerged from backstage to perform the track live.
