Rapper Kevin Gates will remain jailed in Illinois, because he’s been denied bond.
According to TMZ, the rapper (born Kevin Jerome Gilyard) appeared in Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday (April 19) for bond hearing, but the judge denied his request for bond.
Gates was extradited to Illinois in March for a weapons charge. He was set to be released from a Florida jail days earlier, after serving nearly six months on a separate battery charge, but was arrested after an outstanding warrant from Chicago appeared in the system.
It’s unclear why he was denied bail this timee around. For now, he will remain jailed at Kendall County Jail.
