Phil Jackson has just given a pretty clear indication that star Carmelo Anthony may be exiting the New York Knicks via a trade.
While speaking to reporters on Friday (April 14), the Knicks President concluded that Melo “would be better off somewhere else.”
“We’ve not been able to win with [Anthony] on the court at this time,” Jackson said. “I think the direction with our team is that he’s a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere where he can win or chase that championship.”
The 32-year-old superstar said earlier this week that while he’d “love” to remain on the Knicks roster, he wants a commitment to winning immediately.
Sources are telling ESPN that Carmelo is “leaning strongly” toward waiving his no-trade clause if the Knicks presented him with an interesting trade.
