With The Fate of the Furious coming this week, Vin Diesel has been doing his media rounds… and has addressed his rumored feud with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Back in August, during the final week of filming for Fast 8, The Rock called out his “male co-stars” for unprofessional on-set behavior, though he did not mention Diesel by name.
Rumors surfaced later that The Rock was referring to Vin Diesel.
In a new interview with USA TODAY, Diesel opened up about their alleged feud, where he refered to The Rock as a member of his family.
“I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” he explained. “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”
Diesel didn’t go into details about their issues, but said he did everything he could to “protect” The Rock. “I protect the franchise. I protect everybody including Dwayne,” he said. “I protected Dwayne more than he’ll ever know. And it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it.”
“Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life,” Diesel continued. “Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that’s me.”
The Fate of the Furious hits theaters April 14.
