Last month, LaVar Ball — the father of UCLA standout Lonzo Ball — made the outrageous claim that he would package all three of his sons for any sneaker deal… and it would have to start at $1 billion.
While it’s very unlikely the Ball boys can command a $1 billion deal, especially since the youngest (LaMelo) is just 15 years old, and NCAA regulation prevent against any such deal anyway, Lonzo has garnered interest from Nike.
Nike co-founder Phil Knight confirmed that the Swoosh is interested… just not at $1 billion.
“If he can get it, get it,” he told USA Today.
“It’s a little steep,” Knight continued. “He’s an awfully great player. Yeah, we have an interest.”
Since playing at Chino Hills High School in the Los Angeles area, Ball has been rocking Adidas (as pointed out by Sole Collector), so if Nike wants to sign the young prospect, they may have to battle with the Three Stripes.
