Swingman Lance Stephenson inked a deal last week to return to the Indiana Pacers, and will make his season debut with the team on Tuesday (April 4).
The 26-year-old spent his first four seasons in Indiana, before bouncing around the league over the last three years, from the Charlotte Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies to the New Orleans Pelicans to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, during his brief tour around the league, Stephenson was never able to reach the same success he had with the Pacers — specifically, his 2013-14 season, where he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
Stephen believes his return to the Pacers is something special. In fact, he’s comparing it to Michael Jordan’s comeback after his first retirement.
No joke… this is what he said.
“It’s gonna probably be like Michael Jordan coming back to play in the NBA or something like that,” Stephenson said. “Or somebody coming out of retirement. I know the atmosphere is going to be crazy.”
I asked Lance what he thinks Tuesday will be like…. His answer might be the most Lanciest thing ever: pic.twitter.com/DplfhkdXgv
