CNN host Reza Aslan has been on the receiving end of severe backlash, after eating human brain.
According to reports, the TV host/scholar ate human brain tissue with a group of cannibals in India for an episode of his CNN show Believer on Sunday (March 5).
In the premiere episode of the documentary series, which focuses on spirituality around the globe, Aslan met up with a sect of religious nomads called The Aghori.
They persuade him to bathe in the Ganges, a river that Hindus considers sacred, while also smearing the ashes of cremated humans on his face. And finally, Aslan drinks alcohol from a human skull and eats what was purported to be a bit of human brain.
“Want to know what a dead guy’s brain tastes like? Charcoal,” Aslan wrote on Facebook. “It was burnt to a crisp!”
Apparently, his interview with the Aghori went south though, with one man threatening: “I will cut off your head if you keep talking so much.” Shortly after, an Aghori guru — the one who smeared ashes on his face — began to eat his own feces and throw them at Aslan.
Aslan and his crew would ultimately flee.
