Infiniti unveiled a collaborative venture with the RenaultSport Formula One Team on this performance-focused vehicle, dubbed the Project Black S.
Described as “an exploration of a new Infiniti high-performance model line,” the Project Black S is an ambitious reinterpretation of their Q60 coupe.
It features a stand-out, aerodynamic design, alongside hints at how a unique performance hybrid powertrain could significantly enhance the dynamics of an Infiniti. In fact, the performance hybrid powertrain being explored through Project Black S features an “energy recovery system” (ERS), which harvests energy and deploys recovered electric power to boost power and torque. This results in instant, significant, lag-free acceleration. Inspired by the dual-hybrid system proven in Formula One, the technology does not yet exist in a current road car.
The Infiniti Project Black S will see a global reveal at a special media event on the eve of the Geneva International Motor Show, after which the brand will gauge public interest in high-performance versions of Infiniti’s line-up.
