For the first time since its release in 1996, Kool Keith will perform his solo debut Dr. Octagonecologyst alongside the producers he made it with: Dan The Automator and DJ Qbert.
The album was created in the mid-1990s after Keith went solo, following the disbanding of his group, the Ultramagnetic MCs. Under the alias Dr. Octagon, he released what is now-widely considered an underground classic.
Although it’s unclear how many units Dr. Octagonecologyst sold, it didn’t chart on Billboard. It did, however, garnered critical acclaim from hip-hop critics.
Keith, Dan and Qbert announced two upcoming show dates, in which they will perform music from the album together for the first time in nearly 21 years.
First, the trio will perform at The Independent in San Francisco on March 6, following by a March 7 date at Los Angeles’ Telegram Ballroom. For more info, visit the website here.
A Dr. Octagonecologyst box set is slated to release sometime this year.
