A day after being shot, Troy Ave was released from Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center on Monday (Dec. 26).

The rapper was shot Christmas afternoon while driving to visit family in Brooklyn, during which he suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was grazed in the head by a bullet.

Police said Troy Ave and his girlfriend were stopped at an intersection at around 4 p.m. on Christmas Day, when an unidentified man approached the vehicle and started firing. While the rapper was hit twice, his girlfriend was unscathed.

Ave posted a video of himself on Instagram walking out of the hospital, with the caption: “Shot in my head, shot in my back, GOD is Great Ya boi is back from the bottom of my heart thank y’all 4 all the prayers.”

His lawyer John Stella told the New York Daily News that Troy still has a bullet lodged in his back and another one in his head. “He is very sore,” he said. “The doctors told the family that he came dangerously close to having a spinal cord injury — but it looks like there‚Äôs no lasting damage from the wound track.”

According to reports, the rapper will undergo surgery to remove the bullets at a later date.
