After announcing his retirement over the summer, San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan has his No. 21 jersey officially retired on Sunday (Dec. 18), during the team’s game against the Pelicans.
With the retiring, he became the eighth Spur in franchise history to have his jersey retired, joining George Gervin (44), David Robinson (50), Sean Elliott (32), James Silas (13), Avery Johnson (6), Bruce Bowen (12) and Johnny Moore (00).
Duncan ended a legendary career last season, going down in NBA history books as the only player in league history to start and win a title in three different decades.
Last season, Duncan reached 1,000 career wins, becoming just the third player in NBA history to reach that mark, as well as the only player with one team.
