Is Lupe Fiasco retiring from music?

The Chicago rap veteran announced his retirement from rap this week, after his controversial “N.E.R.D.” freestyle was pulled from SoundCloud.

“@SoundCloud took the NERD freestyle down because of ‘Hate Speech’??? I’m done,” Lupe wrote on Twitter. “I get the hint God. Yo Lupe fans it’s been fun and I hope you’ve had fun. I’m officially not releasing anymore music. Albums cancelled… Getting beat up for telling the truth is not how I plan on spending the rest of life.”

DJ Booth called lyrics from the Lupe freestyle “anti-semitic” and “dangerous”, which the rapper responded to in a tweet: “Oh please. F*ck outta here.”

“Its some upright moral Jewish execs in this biz and some low down dirty awful motherf*ckers that would sell they mother into slavery. Shrug,” he later added.

Ironically, on the “N.E.R.D.” freestyle, Lupe raps this line: “I’ll retire when I’m tired.”

Earlier this year, Lupe hinted at retirement, saying LUPend would be his last album. He’s since announced three upcoming albums: DROGAS, DROGAS light, and SKULLS. If he keeps his word, these three have been canceled.
