While Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s lives are mostly private, the hip-hop moguls open the door into their worlds in an upcoming documentary, titled The Defiant Ones.
The four-part documentary, which is slated to air on HBO, will feature in-depth interviews with both Dre and Iovine, as well as appearances from a number of star musicians, such as Ice Cube, Bono, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Trent Reznor and Gwen Stefani, among others.
Directed by famed filmmaker Allen Hughes, it was reportedly shot over the course of three years and includes never-before-seen footage from the pair’s archives.
“The Defiant Ones has everything you expect in a great story — drama and humor, tragedy and triumph,” said Casey Bloys, HBO’s president of programming. “Allen Hughes takes you on a journey through some of the most important flash points of popular culture, and I’m delighted that we can bring this unforgettable saga to our viewers.”
