NBA veteran Kevin Martin announced his retirement on Friday (Nov. 25), after 12 years in the league.
He made the announcement with an advertisement placed in his hometown newspaper, the Zanesville Times Recorder (Ohio). “My family and close friends have known since June of the direction I wanted my life to go. Those were the toughest conversations that I have ever had but with the ultimate support I knew I was making the right decision,” Martin wrote in the advertisement.
During his career, he played with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs. His most notable stretch came with the Kings, where he played five full seasons, with his best season being the 2008-09 season averaging a career-high average of 24.6 points.
Martin finishes his career with 714 games played and 12,396 points scored.
