Former NBA All-Star Steve Francis has been charged with felony retaliation, after prosecutors say he threatened to assault a Houston cop.
According to the Associated Press, the 39-year-old was pulled over in Harris County, TX, for speeding. The deputy reportedly smelled alcohol and Francis was belligerent during the traffic stop, so more deputies were called to the scene and he was arrested.
Authorities say no deputies were assaulted.
Francis also faces a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge. He was was released on $5,500 bond.
The former NBA player played in the league for 11 seasons, seven of which were for the Houston Rockets. He last played during the 2007-08 season.
