Since appearing on Dr. Dre’s 2015 Compton album, Anderson .Paak signed to Aftermath and hit the road extensively after delivering his Malibu album.
The singer sat down with Power 106 recently, discussing his work with Dre and his touring schedule.
According to Paak, he’s performed more than 150 shows in 2016, which hasn’t left much time to record for Dre… but says they’ve been able to get into the studio. “Whenever I’m in town I just go over there to kick it with him, and we just make something,” he said. “We just drink some Hendricks gin and chop it up…We work really fast. He’s always inspired off of something.”
Although Paak says he and Dre have some bangers in the vault, they’re generally stashed away for future projects.
In addition to Malibu, which dropped in January, he also dropped Yes Lawd!, with producer Knxwledge, via Stones Throw. Both are available now.
