UFC veteran Ryan Bader knocked out Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Night on Saturday night (Nov. 19) in Brazil, the final fight of his UFC contract.
Bader (22-5) easily took down Nogueira in the third round, and smothered him with some vicious ground and pound until referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in at the 3:51 mark… in the headlining fight at UFC Fight Night at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
After the fight, the 33-year-old said he will enter free agency, after winning seven of his past eight fights.
“I’ll get with the UFC, have talks with them, re-up,” Bader said regarding his future. “I don’t see anybody else up there [in the lightweight division]. The top 5 is wide open. I deserve that title shot, and that’s what I’m coming for.”
Outside of a clean left hand in the opening round that appeared to stun Bader a bit, Nogueria (22-8) was completely dominated by the younger fighter.
Nogueira, 40, is 1-3 in his past four fights, suffering losses to Maurício Rua and Anthony Johnson. He’s also made just four appearances in the past three years.
