They’re not scheduled to enter the Octagon until Dec. 30 at UFC 207, but Ronda Rousey officially faced off against current women’s bantumweight champ Amanda Nunes on Friday night (Nov. 12).
The two met face to face during the UFC 205 weigh ins at Madison Square Garden. Rousey stepped onto the stage with her usual stone face, raising her fists toward Nunes for a brief stare down, before quickly exiting the stage without saying a word.
Nunes, however, spoke with Joe Rogan, during which she promised a battle, while expressing her respect for the former champ. “She’s the fight I asked for. I trained for this girl for my whole career [in the] UFC,” said Nunes. “Now, I have the chance to defend my belt against her? It’s gonna be amazing.”
