Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant met each other on the court for the first time as opponents on Thursday (Nov. 3), after playing alongside each other for eight seasons.
The two had not seen or spoken to each since Durant announced his decision to join Warriors over the summer — four months ago.
How did they greet each other before tipoff? They didn’t. The KD and Westbrook didn’t even look at each other. Instead, Westbrook took his traditional spot underneath the opposing basket and spoke to no Warriors players. KD didn’t shake hands or talk with any of his former teammates either.
“When I get on the court, I don’t talk to anybody but my teammates,” Westbrook said after the game.
Despite the awkwardness, the Warriors went on to defeat the OKC Thunder 122-96, led by Durant’s game-high 39 points. He also tried a career-high with 7 three-pointers.
Westbrook chipped in 20 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds for his team, but it wasn’t enough.
