UFC fighter Josh Samman passed away this weeek, after spending nearly a week in a coma at a hospital in Hollywood, FL, reports FOX Sports. He was just 28 years old.
The middleweight fighter was found unresponsive in his apartment last Thursday (Sept. 29) by a friend, who called 911 and began CPR until police arrived. His roommate/friend Troy Kirkingburg was also found unresponsive.
When paramedics arrived, Samman was still unresponsive, while Kirkingburg was found dead. No foul play was suspected.
Details are sketchy, but Samman’s mother released a statement earlier this week, saying that no heroin was found in his system, despite rumors of a drug overdose.
He made his UFC debut during the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Samman won win his first three fights, but lost his last two, the last being in July against Tim Boetsch.
