Kanye West is getting free rein to do whatever he wants on the MTV VMAs stage.
Sources at MTV has confirmed to Pitchfork that the rapper has been given full autonomy to do whatever he wants for “four minutes” on-stage at the show.
Furthermore, producers have no idea what Kanye has planned.
The 2016 MTV VMAs will broadcast live from Madison Square Garden on Aug. 28th at 9 pm ET.
The news is interesting, given Kanye’s history with the VMAs. In 2009, he infamously interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video (for “You Belong With Me”)… and was villified for in in the months following. Last year, he won the Video Vanguard Award and delivered an unforgettable speech, during which he declared he’ll run for president in 2020.
We can only guest what he’ll do this time around.
