Despite the loss of Phife Dawg earlier this year, A Tribe Called Quest is reuniting for a brand new album.
During an interview with Rap Radar, Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid revealed that an album was completed before Phife’s death in March.
“I’m really happy about it,” he said. “It’s really something special. It’s one of the things I’m most excited about over everything we’re working on.”
Reid also reassured fans that the entire group was together in the recording process, saying: “Phife is there. The whole group: Jarobi, the entire group, everybody. It’s great too.”
There’s no release date, but the album is expected “very soon”.
The album will be Tribe’s first new studio album since 1998’s The Love Movement.
